Start with four mugs and four tall glasses

A home tiki bar that can host four people needs a short vessel and a tall one. Ceramic mugs hold crushed ice and a garnish without looking like a plastic cup. Ribbed highballs cover Jungle Birds, Zombies, swizzles, and anything with soda or ginger beer. That is the starter. Collector assortments come after you know you will wash mugs twice a month.

The glossy four-mug set in the kit includes coasters and straws, which is the difference between “we have mugs” and “the table survives pineapple juice.” Libbey tiki rocks glasses are the other starter path if you hate ceramic and want dishwasher-safe glass with a face on it.

Vessel to drink

Mai Tai family: double rocks or a mug. Short, crushed ice, mint sitting on top—not a 16 oz hurricane.

Piña Colada, Hurricane, creamy tall drinks: a hurricane glass if you have one; a highball is the home stand-in. The tulip holds foam and a pineapple wedge.

Zombie, Collins, Dark ’n’ Stormy: highball. You want height for the ice column and a place for the straw.

Daiquiri, Hemingway, El Presidente: coupe, up, no ice. This site’s coupe listing lives on recipe pages; it is not in the atmosphere catalog. A small martini glass is a stand-in.

Scorpion bowl and other share drinks: punch bowl with a ladle. Do not serve a bowl recipe in four random mugs and call it the same drink; the dilution math changes.

The BARCONIC assortment and the Peohud 16–20 oz ceramics are heavier and less matched as a set. Buy them when the four identical mugs feel boring, not instead of a set you can put in front of guests who do not want to decode whose idol is whose.

A wall rack is how mugs become the room, once you own more than four. Keep it indoor, and not over a stove you actually use.

Patio vs indoor
