Build Your Tiki Bar is an atmosphere builder. Your budget, space choice, product selections, and related builder preferences are stored in your browser via localStorage under the key build-your-tiki-bar so you can continue on the same device without an account. The Pantry tool keeps a local draft of selected bottles and mixers under bytb-pantry, and syncs that pantry to your account while you are signed in. Favorite drink skill tree keeps a local draft under bytb-favorite-unlock so you can leave and return on the same device. The drink shopping list keeps selected recipes under bytb-recipe-shopping-list on this device, and syncs that list to your account while you are signed in. Checking an item on that list updates the pantry (and syncs with the pantry when you are signed in).

If you Accept analytics in the site notice, we load Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID G-FJZYX0H88F) to measure visits and how people use pages. Google may set cookies such as _ga and receive usage data (for example pages viewed, approximate location, and device/browser details). We do not load that script until you accept. If you Decline, Analytics stays off and the builder still works. Your choice is saved in the same localStorage key so we do not ask again on this device. We do not run third-party advertising pixels on this site.

If you choose Save list, Save pantry, Save build, or Sign in, we ask for your email address and send a one-time magic link (no password). Clicking that link creates or refreshes an account and sets a first-party session cookie (bytb_session) so you stay signed in. We also keep a local flag (bytb_signed_in) so the site can show My Account in the header before the session check finishes. While signed in, we store on our servers (MySQL on our host): named bar shopping lists (budget, space, selected products), your drink shopping list (selected recipes), named drink builds from Favorite drink skill tree (starting drink and added bottles or mixers), your What can I make? pantry (selected bottles and mixers; also updated when you check items on the drink shopping list), recipe favorites, album favorites, guide favorites, and recipe star ratings tied to your account. We use your email for authentication and account recovery only—not for marketing emails. Sign-in mail is sent from our own mailbox on this host (typically no-reply@buildyourtikibar.com, with replies going to contact@).

Sign-in and contact-form requests may include a Cloudflare Turnstile bot check. When that check is active, Cloudflare receives a challenge token and may see your IP address as part of verifying the request. We do not use Turnstile for advertising.

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email, topic, and message you send so we can respond. Messages are emailed to our contact inbox. We do not use that address for marketing.

If you submit a recipe, we store the recipe content you provide and your account email so we can review it and possibly publish a curated version on the site. Submissions are not published automatically. We may email our contact inbox when a submission arrives.

Affiliate retailer sites may set their own cookies when you leave this site to purchase.

Music pages can play a YouTube sample after you press Play. That loads YouTube (Google) in your browser. We do not load YouTube until you choose to play.
