Quiet Village

Liberty issued Quiet Village: The Exotic Sounds of Martin Denny in 1959, after several other Exotica-series LPs. By then the “Quiet Village” single had already put Denny on national charts and TV; the LP packaged a stereo-friendly version of the hit plus new charts from the working combo.

Personnel had shifted from the 1957 debut (Exotica) — Arthur Lyman had left for his own HiFi career — but the vocabulary stayed: piano, vibes, percussion, and animal effects aimed at living-room hi-fi. Liberty kept the Sandy Warner cover tradition rolling across the Exotica series.

It is a useful bookend to the 1957 debut (Exotica): cleaner stereo, same warmth, so a home rotation is not one LP on repeat. Pair it with Exotica and Taboo when you want the Shell Bar sound across an evening without wearing out a single pressing.
